We Thank You for your show of support to The Wings Foundation and to the Planet!
The WINGS Recycling Committee, along with the help of American Airlines, is hard at work to ensure that cans are being recycled where ever possible.
So thank you for recycling on every flight.

A Little Recycling History

Onboard recycling of used aluminum cans first started in 1989 (by one SJC AA Flight Attendant Heather Bell) & was maintained at the grass roots level for more than 10 years. Discussions began in 1997 to consider adopting Disaster Relief & Recycling and It was then appointed to the trust & administration of the Wings Foundation, Inc. in 2001.
We Rely on YOU!
The funds raised go directly to the benefit of the Flight Attendant Disaster Relief Fund (FADR). American Airlines DOES NOT benefit from the financial proceeds raised by the recycling program, however we are grateful for the full support and cooperation of American Airlines Flight Service and the aircraft catering companies “LSG Sky Chef’s” and “Gate Gourmet”.
Each year American Airlines Flight Attendants
recycle around 500,000 pounds of aluminum.
That's like pulling 5 - B737 aircraft out of our landfills!
In 2015, we recycled 357,240 pounds of Aluminum Cans raising $64,957 for the WINGS Foundation & the Flight Attendants we assist.
